how do I sign up for open mic? and am I allowed to have a friend read for me if I just want my poems to be heard but way to shy to do it my self?

You sign up for the open mic on the night of the open mic. I will have a sign up sheet at my table and you can sign up for any spot on it. You’re also welcome to have a friend read for you (though I do hope you’ll read for us eventually!). Our next open mic will be a week from today on the 15th.

Yes! Speak for Yourself will be on October 19th (2026) and will be followed the next week by a second open mic with a special featured writer for Utah Humanity’s Book Fest. We will be hosting poet Moudi Sbeity on October 26 (2026) and hearing about his book “Habibi Means Beloved.”
